Agatti, Bangaram and Kadmat Islands are remote islands in the
Arabian sea represent ideal setting for a scuba diving stay.
Agatti, Bangaram and Kadmat has Scuba diving centres and
accommodation option that makes it a very popular scuba diving
destination Internationally especially Europe.
Agatti, Bangaram and Kadmat Islands are remote and did not
have telephones or any sort of communication system till very
recently. Till today its a restricted tourism zones and
require permit even for Indian citizens for visiting.
Agatti is the only Airport in the area and gets totally about
9 Indian and Kingfisher flights. The flights have baggage
restrictions (15 kg per seat) and therefore guests cannot
bring their own scuba equipment. There are Fixed schedule
Ships from Cochin during Oct-May period which takes about
22-28 hours depending which island you are going to. Agatti
and Bangaram are better accessed by flight whereas other
islands are accessed by Ship.
Diving centres here are geared to cater to beginners as well
as offers CMAS and PADI courses by certified divers. They also
offer underwater photography courses. Snorkeling is possible
at specified locations.
Typical Scuba stay here may vary from 1 week to 4 weeks.

having the Permit Procedure - Lakshadweep are a set of
tiny islands with a very small population, limited resources
and highly eco-sensitive and therefore its a must to control
visitors flow in and out of the Island.
How
permits are procured - Reserve a resort in Lakshadweep and
permit is included as a part of the tariff (No extra cost) and
procedure will be done on behalf of the guest by the Resort.
What are the
details required to procure permits -
Overseas Guests and Overseas Guests with Resident Permit need
to provide full Passport details (Name, Nationality, Passport
number (if any), Permanent Address, Date and Place of Birth)
Indian Guests need to provide (Name, Permanent Address, Date
and Place of Birth) and need to carry a proof of the identity
alongwith.
How do I
get the permit - Permits are issued 1 week before date of
travel and can either be provide while boarding the flight (as
done by Bangaram Islands) or faxed to the guests 1 week before
arrival date (As done by Agatti).

takes anywhere from 22 hours to 28 hours to reach AGATTI from

How Do I
go from Agatti Airport to the Bangaram Islands - Agatti
Island Resort provides pickup for their guests and the resort
located very near the airport. Bangaram island provides a
speedboat pickup (Mid-Sept-Mid-May) / Helicopter Pickup
(Mid-may -Mid-Sept)
What about Star Cruises to
Lakshadweep - There is no service scheduled for
Winter 2007-2008 Season.
