Currency:
The Lao Kip (K) is the legal currency, it is divided into
100 cents. There are no international ATM facilities in
Laos. Major credit cards are accepted at some
international hotels and tourist orientated
establishments. Travellers cheques can be cashed at most
banks in Vientiane and major towns. Most transactions are
conducted in cash: American Dollars, Thai Baht or Lao Kip.

Climate
Throughout most of the country, the climate is hot and
tropical, with the rainy season between May and October
when temperatures are at their highest. The dry season
runs from November to April.

winter and upland areas.

International Airport (VTE) The airport is two
miles (3km) from Vientiane

Visas are issued on arrival at Luang Prabang Airport,
Pakse Airport, Vientiane International Airport and Wattay
International Airport for a stay of 15 days, on
presentation of a passport, passport-size photo and fee of
US$35. Certain checkpoints at borders may also issue visas
on arrival. Consult the nearest Embassy/Consulate for
further information. If entering Laos through any other
international checkpoint, it is necessary to obtain a visa
in advance.
