Salt Mines & Celtic Village
Proceed from Salzburg to Mountain Durrnberg. Upon reaching
the summit, the path leads through the spa gardens to the
famous early-baroque pilgrimage church of St. Mary and
through an authentically reconstructed Celtic village,
which will give you an insight into the life of the Celts
about 2500 years ago. The path leads directly on to the
oldest mines in the world where the excitement begins. By
means of small trains, slides and taking a short trip
across an underground lake, reach the area where the salt
was obtained. Explanations given by guiding miners offer
an interesting insight into the extraction of the
so-called 'white gold'.
