Rann
Riders is a cottage camp at Dasada (Gujarat, India),
near the Little Rann of Kut ch
wildlife sanctuary, offering eight
cottages resembling traditional village
huts, with comfortable bedrooms and
bathrooms featuring hot showers and
English toilets.
A
geographically unique landform, the Little Rann of
Kutch is a saline desert wilderness offering exciting
cross-desert safaris, superb wildlife viewing
opportunities and colourful villages along the edge
of the desert.
The Little
Rann of kutch is a birdwatcher's paradise in winter.
Houbara bustard, sandgrouse, desert chat, desert wheatear,
nine species of larks, quails, gray francolin etc are seen
in the saline desert wilderness. Eagles, vultures,
harriers and falcons can be seen hunting in the Rann.
The marshes
in the Rann, and nearby lakes like Nawa Talao and Vanod
Saran, attract huge flocks of water birds. Flamingoes,
pelicans, cranes, storks, ducks etc can be seen in large
numbers.

Riders cottage camp has 15 cottages. Each of the
cottages are completely self-contained, with a
spacious double bedroom.

Accommodations
Each of the cottages has
an a/c twin-bedroom, with a comfortable cane bed, a dry
dressing area and a tiled bathroom with western-style
toilet fittings and hot-and-cold showers.
Food & beverages
Rann Riders
offers Continental and Indian cuisine that can be served
on the buffet table, preplated or camp-style around a
fire. Tandoori food is a specialty of the resort. On prior
intimation, we serve Gujarati meals, regional specialties
of the Maliks of Dasada, Bengali meals and seafood.
For vegetarians, the Flamingo Restaurant has an extensive
Indian, Chinese and Continental ala carte menu.

Activities - Birding
With its
small lake and extensive fields, Rann Riders offers good
birding at the resort itself. Grey and pond herons,
egrets, pied and white-breasted kingfishers, spotbill,
nakta (comb duck), saras cranes and other birds can be
seen at the waterfront. The bushes are also rich in birds
and shikra hawks have been seen perched on the trees at
the resort. The resort is also a roosting spot for rosy
pastor (rose-coloured starling). The trees also provide
suitable nesting areas for ibises, egrets and pond herons
to breed.
Little Rann of Kutch - The Little
Rann of Kutch is a birding paradise and has been declared
a Ramsar Site. During the safaris in the Rann expect to
see large flocks of larks, and other dryland birds like
sandgrouse, coursers, plovers, chats, warblers, babblers,
shrikes. Among the many winter visitors are the houbara
bustard and spotted sandgrouse.

sites near Dasada
Rann
Riders is the base to visit the bird-rich Nawa Talao lake,
a number of seasonal wetlands near Dasada, the village
lake of Dasada, the wetland near Patdi fort, In the
monsoon months of July, August and September, lesser
florican visits the grasslands of Surendranagar District
to breed and the vegetation around the wetlands becomes
the breeding area for painted storks, several species of
resident ducks and other waterfowl. .
Nalsarovar Bird Sanctuary : Rann
Riders is 44 km from Nalsarovar Bird Sanctuary, a 105 sq
km sanctuary comprising a large lake and its surrounds.
Nalsarovar is renowned as one of the finest birding places
in Western India.
